Holistic Care & Protection for Children

When a child's rights are violated, they need to be able to understand and access trusted resources for support, without being compelled to depend on [potentially absent] socio-economic resources. In addition to access to justice, they would benefit from continued psycho-social support and community-nuanced care for a holistic recovery.
Even in absence of child right violations, children often seek trusted adults they can speak to about the challenges in their daily life as they navigate adolescence. Not just children, but intermediaries [parents, teachers, social workers] who engage with them often need guidance on dealing with the unexpected situations that children in their care bring to their notice. Access to context-relevant, multi-lingual information and interactions can support prevention and proactive early stage resolution, ensuring well-rounded development of children in the impressionable years of adolescence.
DPI, or digital public infrastructure, emerged as a powerful approach to building societal scale infrastructure during G20 presidencies of India, South Africa and Brazil.
CPA refers to Care [access to psycho-social support and mental health] and Protection [access to justice] for Adolescents [children aged 10 to 18].
DPI-CPA provides foundational infrastructure at population scale in countries to help connect providers of Care and Protection to adolescents and intermediaries in times of need.
As a global, community-led initiative housed under the Centre for Digital Public Infrastructure [and built by 21+ organisations across DPI, child-welfare, law, and international development], the first instance of CPA is being built to pilot in India.
We humbly invite all experts and stakeholders to co-create and co-own this with us, and to adapt it to other countries as well. Please reach out to tanushka@cdpi.dev to explore potential opportunities for collaboration.
